Choosing who installs your kitchen is largely a question of who you can trust with your home for several weeks. The accreditations below are the independent checks and recognitions that sit behind what we say about ourselves. They are not self-certified and they are not badges purchased from a trade directory. They are the result of external vetting, ongoing oversight, and in one case the judgment of an independent panel.
Huntingdonshire Business Awards 2026 Finalist
Nicholas Hythe has been shortlisted in two categories at the Huntingdonshire Business Awards 2026: Small Business of the Year and St Ives Business of the Year.
The Huntingdonshire Business Awards are run in partnership with Huntingdonshire District Council and organised by the Hunts Post. Finalists are chosen by an independent judging panel. The grand final takes place at Burgess Hall in St Ives on 15 October 2026.
Being shortlisted in two categories is something we are genuinely proud of, though not in the way that usually gets written about. Nicholas Hythe is an independent, family-run business. It was founded by two brothers who grew up in Cambridgeshire, and it operates from two showrooms in the county. The fact that it has been recognised alongside a number of other strong local businesses, for the quality of what it does rather than for its size, feels like the right kind of recognition.
The St Ives Business of the Year category has a particular significance. The St Ives showroom at 1 The Quadrant is where the business began, and the awards final is being held in the same town. That is not lost on us.
We will update this page if the outcome on 15 October changes anything. Until then, finalist is the accurate word and we are glad to have earned it.
Trading Standards Approved: Buy with Confidence
The Buy with Confidence scheme is run by Local Authority Trading Standards Services. It is not a membership scheme a business can join by paying a fee. Every business on the approved list has been assessed by professionally qualified Trading Standards staff, and the assessment covers how the business actually operates, not just whether it can produce a certificate.
The process took Nicholas Hythe nearly four months. It required evidence of DBS checks for all customer-facing staff, a documented health and safety programme with regular checks on and off premises, transparent pricing practices, and a clear process for handling complaints that sits outside the business itself. Membership is monitored rather than awarded once and forgotten.
Nicholas Hythe is Cambridgeshire’s only Trading Standards Approved kitchen designer and installer. Nationally, we are one of only 12 businesses in the Buy with Confidence scheme that designs and installs kitchens.
What this means in practice:

- A documented route for raising concerns that is independent of the business, administered through the Trading Standards scheme.
- Vetting that covers trading practice and customer treatment, not just technical competence. The business has been assessed on how it behaves, not only on what it can build.
Neff 5 Star Master Partner
Neff operates a tiered partnership scheme for kitchen studios. The level a business achieves is determined by the training investment the team has made, the quality of the live product displays in the showroom, and demonstrated knowledge of the range. Five Star Master Partner is the highest tier.
In practical terms it means the designers and showroom staff who demonstrate Neff appliances have been trained by the manufacturer. The appliances on display in both showrooms are live and connected, not static props. When a customer asks how a particular function works, the answer comes from someone who has been through the manufacturer’s own training programme.

The brands below are the ones Nicholas Hythe works with as approved and preferred suppliers. These are working relationships rather than logo arrangements, involving product training, display investment, and in some cases exclusive regional supply rights.
Furniture and cabinetry

- Second Nature: approved stockist. UK-manufactured furniture doors across a wide range of styles and finishes.

- Neff: 5 Star Master Partner and preferred appliance supplier across the majority of NH kitchen projects.
- Bosch: approved and preferred stockist.
- Siemens, Miele, AEG: approved stockists.
- Westin: preferred extraction supplier.
Surfaces, sinks and fittings
- Corian: approved fabricator and stockist for solid surface worktops.
- Silestone: approved stockist for quartz composite worktops.
- Axiom and Mistral: approved stockists for laminate and acrylic worktops.
- Abode: preferred supplier for sinks and taps.

Independent, Family Run, Since 2009
Nicholas Hythe was founded in 2009 by brothers Bill and Ross Halliday, both Cambridgeshire-born. The business has since delivered over a thousand kitchens across the county and opened a second showroom in Ely in addition to the original St Ives location.
The team carries over 150 years of combined kitchen industry experience across design, manufacturing, and installation. It is not a large number of people. It is a consistent group who have been doing this work for a long time and intend to continue doing it.
Continuing to invest in the business rather than extract from it is something Ross talks about directly when asked about the direction of the company. The Ely showroom is the most visible proof of that. More display space, more range on show, and a second base from which to serve a wider part of Cambridgeshire.

Which kitchen brands do you supply?
Nicholas Hythe is the exclusive Cambridgeshire stockist of Schuller and Next125 German kitchen ranges, neither of which is available through any other designer or retailer in the region. For appliances, Neff is the preferred brand across the majority of projects, with Bosch, Siemens, Miele and AEG also available. Worktops are supplied across a range of materials and brands including Corian, Silestone, Axiom and Mistral. Sinks and taps are primarily from Abode. The full range is on display at both showrooms.
