Home offices, studies or hobby rooms

The pandemic’s changing the way we use our homes

Has the pandemic changed the way you need to use your home? Wanting to make more of an under-used room or space? Requests for home offices, studies, hobby rooms or ways to optimise that under-used space, perhaps in the kitchen or under the stairs is becoming an increasingly frequent request from clients.

A single or multi-purpose space?

At Nicholas Hythe we’ve long offered bespoke, professionally designed and installed home offices, studies or hobby room solutions to clients. And we always start with the same question – how are you looking to use the space you have?  You’ll undoubtedly want it to complement your home aesthetically but also be functional for the ways in which you intend to use it. It may even need to serve several functions. By day, a home office from which to work and, in the evening, a relaxing space into which to retreat to undertake any hobbies you and your family have. Creating a room to optimise the workspace and storage available yet be flexible are all frequently heard requirements.  We can even help reconfigure a room to create a completely new area, hidden from view!

Whether you’re looking for a modern style room with contemporary furniture and fittings or a more traditional, classic style feel, our team can advise and create a stylish, balanced room that helps you do want you want in it.

It may not be just the furniture you need

And it may not just be about the furniture you need. Lighting, electrics, flooring all help to ensure the area or room meets the needs you have for it throughout the day. Lighting to be able to work effectively (for example, down lighters), is a must for home office workspaces.  Ambient lighting helps create a softer, more relaxed feel for studies or hobby rooms. If you’re creating a multi-purpose room, you’ll need both!  Likewise, depending on whether the area or room will be single function or multi-functional, the floor covering you choose needs to work with the units and worktops to contrast textures and colours to enhance the ambience

And, as with all our installations, we will fully project manage whichever tradespeople are required to ensure your room is completed as quickly as you want it.
